Kimberlin is best known for founding The INN Between, Salt Lake’s first end-of-life care program for people experiencing homelessness. After 10 years, it remains one of just a few such programs nationwide, despite an increasing need. Now retired from that role, Kimberlin’s mission is to assist other communities in launching similar programs through her latest endeavor, Homeless at the End.
Kimberlin earned a BA in Economics with High Distinction from the University of Arizona and spent her early career in international sales and marketing within the computer industry. She moved to Salt Lake 25 years ago as a mother and spent a few years at home with her small children. At a friend’s suggestion, she began working part-time as a grant writer, which ignited her passion for nonprofit work and launched a new career trajectory.

Rotary creates environments of peaceAs a humanitarian organization, peace is a cornerstone of our mission. We believe when people work to create peace in their communities, that change can have a global effect. By carrying out service projects and supporting peace fellowships and scholarships, our members take action to address the underlying causes of conflict, including poverty, discrimination, ethnic tension, lack of access to education, and unequal distribution of resources. Our commitment to peacebuilding today answers new challenges: how we can make the greatest possible impact and how we can achieve our vision of lasting change. We are approaching the concept of peace with greater cohesion and inclusivity, broadening the scope of what we mean by peacebuilding, and finding more ways for people to get involved. Rotary creates environments where peace can happen RESERVATION NOTE - RSVP Due by Friday Close of Business of the prior week.

The Salt Lake Chambers, Utah Community Builders Initiative is a response to the growing desire from the business community to create a social impact for good beyond traditional business issues. We aim to engage businesses, using our guiding principles.
Presenter
Bre is a natural community builder who believes the greatest impact comes from serving others and building where you stand. Throughout Utah, she has pioneered programs that bring people together and strengthen community bonds. Whether through grassroots initiatives, volunteer work, or simply showing up where needed, Bre is dedicated to creating spaces where everyone feels welcome and empowered. She is excited to collaborate and build a stronger, more connected Utah.
Last year, Derek Miller, CEO of the Salt Lake Chamber reached out during a critical time, and Bre stepped in to help, Bre has played a key role in creating the Workplace Flexibility Toolkit and laid the foundation for the Salt Lake Chamber's child care initiative, which has been instrumental in advancing the organization’s mission.
Bre Yamauchi grew up on a farm in southeastern Idaho, where summers meant wrangling livestock at nearly 90 rodeos a year—so if you ever need a rodeo partner, she’s your gal! A lifelong sports enthusiast, Bre has been an athlete, referee, and avid fan, especially of basketball and volleyball. March Madness is her favorite time of year. Outside of work, Bre enjoys gardening, camping, and photography. She’s also a passionate traveler who believes beauty and growth come from learning beyond our own borders. The Personal Practice of Public Defense
In the 50 years since the Supreme Court held that the Constitution requires that anyone charged with a crime must be represented by counsel, the practice of public defense has evolved into an institution that we rely on for protection of public rights in the context of individual representation, a sometimes contradictory mission which public defenders must navigate every day.
Bio:
Scott was appointed as the Federal Public Defender for the District of Utah by the Tenth Circuit Court of Appeals in 2019. Prior to his appointment he worked at the Utah Federal Public Defender Office as lead appellate counsel, representing indigent clients in appeals before the Tenth Circuit and United States Supreme Court. Prior to that, he worked as a law clerk to three federal judges, including Judge Alan C. Kay of the District of Hawaii and Judges David Sam and Tena Campbell of the District of Utah. He was an Assistant Attorney General in the Civil Division of the U.S. Department of Justice and worked as a criminal trial and appellate lawyer in both public and private practice; as an Assistant District Attorney in Riverside County, California, as a litigation associate at Snow, Christensen & Martineau in Salt Lake City, and as an Assistant Attorney General for the State of Utah in the Criminal Appeals Division.

Where, naturally, quality and its measurement become aspects of both verification and validation, as policymaking concerns toward generative-AI. Two simple cases provide lessons-learned that can be applied to broader ChatGPT answers, as well as additional Artificial Intelligence (AI) results. Which leads to pursuing, when would you use generative-AI, and what company policy should be considered for general generative-AI use? Nov. 25, 2025 11:45 a.m. - 1:15 p.m.
We are pleased to welcome Shahab Saeed as our 2025 Thanksgiving Message Speaker. “ The United States of America is destined to lead the nations of the world in establishment of world peace according to the writings of the Baha’i Faith. In fact, it is the only nation singled out for such an honor and monumental task.
And yet we find ourselves at the time of increasing turbulence in our society. Americans everywhere are wondering how to build a nation that is truly just, free and peaceful. What is needed is a resurgence in organizations like Rotary International where souls come together to put “Service above self”. To get to know their neighbors and community, to learn with an open mind about how to develop capacity in all members of society and above all live their lives every day according to the “Four Way Test”. “… peace must first be established among individuals until it leads in the end to peace among nations” according to the writings of the Baha’i Faith. This Thanksgiving presentation will explore how our American Nation that has been endowed with so many capabilities, so much talent and abundant resources can work toward uniting togther to achieve the goal of peace on earth as promised by all the major religions of the world and desired by souls from all walks of life. “To whom much is given, much is expected”
Shahab works on engaging hearts and minds to build better, more vibrant and prosperous communities.”

Attorney General Derek Brown discovered his passion for public service early in his career. After earning a Bachelor of Arts in English, complemented by minors in business administration and music, he accepted an offer to attend law school. However, he and his wife, Emilie, embarked on a transformative journey by deferring for a year to travel. Upon their return, Derek embraced opportunities as an intern at the Utah Legislature and at the Office of the Attorney General under Jan Graham, laying the groundwork for a meaningful career dedicated to serving others. Attorney General Brown’s journey embodies determination and excellence. As editor-in-chief of the Pepperdine Law Review at Pepperdine Law School, he laid the foundation for a remarkable career. Graduating in 2000, he honed his skills by clerking for Ruggero Aldisert, the esteemed former chief judge of the U.S. Third Circuit Court of Appeals. His passion for justice continued as he practiced litigation and appellate law with Mayer Brown, forging a path dedicated to making a difference. In 2002, Mike Lee, who would later become a senator from Utah, recognized Attorney General Brown’s potential and recruited him to practice constitutional and appellate law at Sidley Austin, where he flourished until 2004. Following this pivotal period, Attorney General Brown served as legal counsel to Senator Bob Bennett from 2004 to 2006 and then to Senator Orrin Hatch from 2006 to 2007, contributing his expertise to the nation’s governance. Transitioning back to the private sector, Attorney General Brown embraced the opportunity to teach communications law as an adjunct professor at Brigham Young University, shaping the minds of future leaders. In 2010, he took on the honor of representing House District 49 in the Utah House of Representatives, making a difference in his community. In January 2014, when Senator Mike Lee invited Brown to serve as deputy chief of staff and state director, Brown courageously stepped down from his House seat, showcasing his commitment to public service. He dedicated two years to advancing Senator Lee’s mission before returning to the private sector. In 2019, he was elected chair of the Republican Party, serving until 2021, demonstrating his leadership skills. After two more years in the private sector, Attorney General Brown announced his campaign in winter 2023 and dedicated himself wholeheartedly, culminating in his election on November 5, 2024. Today, Attorney General Brown and his wife, Emilie, are proud parents of four children. They live in Cottonwood Heights, where their shared passion for music and community service continues to inspire those around them. |
