Making a difference in our community is part of Rotary's DNA. Rotary Club 24 members volunteered in April to help the Utah Recycling Alliance collect hard to recycle materials at a ChARM event.

On a beautiful but chilly morning, club members gathered to support the Utah Recycling Alliance by helping staff set up and collect hard-to-recycle items across from Hogle Zoo. While reconnecting with fellow members, volunteers helped collect an interesting and varied amount of material for responsible recycling and reuse.

Materials Collected

  • Bicycle recycling: 113 lbs
  • E-waste: approximately 4,000 lbs (based on truck volume; final confirmation pending)
  • Mattresses: 4
  • Oral care products: 2.5 lbs
  • Clamshell plastics: 33 lbs
  • Skis & snowboards: 293 items
  • Styrofoam (EPS): 70 lbs
  • Tires & tubes: 9
