The members of the Rotary Club of Salt Lake City have been busy! From an Interclub BBQ to engaging events with Franklin Elementary, we have been active in our community while also planning for an exciting year ahead.

Franklin Elementary School Partnerships

On May 27 and 28, Franklin Elementary was the focus of our attention as club members volunteered and provided funding to help the school celebrate the end of the academic year during Field Day festivities. It was a wonderful opportunity to support students, teachers, and families while strengthening our partnership with the school.

On May 28, Mike Young, incoming Chair of the Franklin School Partnerships Committee, served as a guest speaker at the school's end-of-year assembly. Together with Linda Kruse and many dedicated club volunteers, the partnership enjoyed another highly successful year.

Highlights included our Sub for Santa program, the donation of books signed with inspirational messages from our weekly speakers, and providing every student with a book to take home and encourage summer reading. We also hosted another outstanding Career Day, giving students valuable exposure to a variety of professions and career paths.

We are proud of the impact these programs have made and are excited that all of these initiatives are planned to continue during the 2026–2027 school year.

Interclub BBQ

On June 6, the Rotary Club of Salt Lake joined with three neighboring Rotary clubs to host what we hope will be the first of many Interclub BBQ Socials. The event was led by Kristy Walker, with support from Laura Hadley, David Waldman, Sabrina Morales, BBQ aficionado Mike Delzotti, Judy Fang, Jacqui Voland, and members of the Millcreek, Sugar House, and Hispano Latino clubs.

Special thanks go to Jeff Driggs of Sugar House, Jose Herrera of Millcreek, and Oscar Gomez of the Hispano Latino club for their help in organizing this successful gathering.

David Waldman served as emcee, while Jeff Driggs hosted a friendly interclub trivia competition that brought out plenty of enthusiasm and laughter. The food was excellent, new connections were formed, and longtime friendships were renewed, making for an enjoyable afternoon of fellowship and Rotary spirit.
