President's Message
Dear Fellow Rotarians,
My travels with Bahar through Southeast Asia, including Cambodia, have been a humbling reminder of the challenges many face daily. Witnessing these struggles deepened my gratitude for the abundance we enjoy in the United States and the dedication of Club 24 members working on international projects to uplift communities worldwide. In this issue you will see an opportunity to travel with Sustainable Cambodia in November of this year.

I’m thrilled to collaborate with our President-Elect, Heidi Ruster, as we prepare for a seamless transition into the new Rotary year on July 15.  Please join Heidi and Don Weakley, President Elect as they share their strategic goals. A continuance of our shared vision to build on the legacy and commitment of our members.

Heidi Ruster, President ElectGreetings Salt Lake Rotarians!

The summer months are upon us and an upcoming time of exciting transition.   I have been immersed with our stellar Executive Director- Jacqui Voland, Salt Lake Board members, program committee members and fellow Rotary President Elects appreciating our current activities, processes, resources and the opportunities ahead!

On July 15, we (myself and your upcoming President Elect- Don Weakly) are excited to share the following strategies and build upon successes of the last years.

Join Rotarians on a Transformational Journey into the Heart of Cambodia

Rotarians from around the globe are coming together with Sustainable Cambodia for a life-changing 10-day journey into the vibrant heart of Southeast Asia. This is more than just a trip—it's an immersive experience that combines cultural discovery, meaningful service, and unforgettable human connection.
Explore the wonders of Cambodia, a country rich in history, beauty, and resilience. From the bustling capital of Phnom Penh to the awe-inspiring ancient temples of Siem Reap, you'll witness the landmarks that make Cambodia a must-visit destination.

But this journey goes far beyond the typical tourist path.
Venture deep into Pursat Province, where you'll meet village families, see firsthand the incredible impact of Rotary-supported projects, and witness how sustainable development is transforming lives. These off-the-beaten-path experiences offer a rare and authentic glimpse into rural Cambodian life—something no guidebook can offer.
Whether you're a seasoned traveler or visiting for the first time, this is an opportunity to experience the adventure of a lifetime—while making a lasting difference in the lives of children and families.

On Friday, October 17, 2025, Club 24 will host the Distinguished Rotarian Awards Dinner and Celebration at the Sheraton Hotel Ballroom in Salt Lake City. The event will begin at 6:00 PM.

We will honor two extraordinary members of our Club – Gene Banks and Mike Deputy – who have, for decades, exemplified Rotary’s core values of leadership and service.

This special evening will include video tributes highlighting their inspiring journeys and remarkable achievements.

I am honored to be the emcee of the event, having the privilege of knowing both of these distinguished Rotarians personally.

What Are Rotary Enterprise Zones
Rotary Enterprise Zones not only teach others how to fish (proverbially) but provide them with a fishing pole and mentoring for at least one year.
These programs can help reduce poverty by up to 50% in five years.

Utah Rotary Governor's Boyer and Leonelli invite you to a night out at the Salt Lake Bee's Game. Get to know members from other clubs during an evening under the summer sky.
Governors Boyer and Leonelli sent out an electrifying announcement—and you don’t want to miss this! The first 50 people to sign up will score $20 back if we hit the 50-person minimum!

Get ready for an unforgettable evening filled with fun, laughter, and the magic of Rotary.

Keep an eye out for emails that contain the upcoming fiscal year budget and revised bylaws for your review and approval.

Our bylaws require that members have the opportunity to have 2 weeks to review and comment on any documents or changes made that impact the business of the club.

Each email will have a voting poll attached so that if you cannot attend the July 15th Leadership Transition Meeting you still have the opportunity to comment and vote.
