We have made much progress to revive our club over the past year. Jacqui has done a wonderful job overhauling the administrative aspects of our club.
But there is still much to do. Even as I transition out of the club president role, I will be supporting her in continuing the following necessary steps:
1- Jacqui to delegate administrative aspects of the club, and spend her time on strategic aspects such as planning, community partnerships, recruiting big name members, etc.
2- Improve our programming to include bigger name speakers that will be a huge draw.
3- Work to ensure our membership focus moves towards “Business and Community Leaders.”
I look forward to the Rotary year ahead and supporting Jacqui and Heidi as we move forward.
Yours in Rotary,
Spencer Ferguson, President, July 2024-2025
Dear Fellow Rotarians,
I am excited and honored to serve as your Rotary President starting July 1, 2025. I had the recent opportunity to provide service with many of our fellow Rotarians at the Utah Food Bank and truly appreciated the wonderful fellowship and knowledge that we are making a difference in our community!
There has been much achieved in the last several years for our club and community. Your board of directors and your upcoming President Elect- Don Weakley have been working hard to determine a 3-year strategic plan that will work to enhance our Retention, Realistic Growth and Reputation. Attached is our Draft Strategic plan.
I encourage your questions and follow up as we unite our members toward greater community impact and fellowship. We will be discussing this plan, bylaws and budget and recognizing our fellow members at our transition meeting on Tuesday, July 15.
We have some incredible members, and I feel truly honored to work alongside you and support our Rotary Leadership toward authentic Service above Self.
Heidi Ruster, President July 2025-2026

Member Review of Bylaws Amendments and Proposed 2025–2026 Budget
Please Review & Comment
In accordance with our club bylaws, all members are invited to review and provide feedback on documents and changes that affect the business of the Rotary Club of Salt Lake City.
Please review the following documents using the links below:
The board is committed to a strategy focused on Realistic Growth, Retention, and Reputation. To support these goals, the proposed budget reflects increased investments in marketing, membership, and retention initiatives.
The budget projects a planned deficit, with the understanding that the Executive Director and board will actively seek sponsorships and marketing support to offset these expenses. This approach will be sustained for a period of two years, supported by the club’s operational budget and Raymond James Investment account (not the foundation). If measurable growth is not achieved, both the strategy and budget will be re-evaluated in partnership with club members.
If you are unable to attend the Member Celebration Meeting on July 15, this form will serve as your opportunity to participate in the review process.
Thank you for your continued engagement and dedication to the work of Rotary.

About the Diplomacy Begins Here Regional Summits
The Diplomacy Begins Here Regional Summits and Learning Labs bring together leaders from business, government, and nonprofit sectors to deepen understanding of U.S. foreign policy and the benefits of exchange programs like the International Visitor Leadership Program (IVLP) to U.S. communities, and to our economy and security.
These gatherings provide a valuable opportunity to create connections, build professional networks, and bring attention to the critical role that citizen diplomacy programs play in strengthening U.S. influence and security abroad, and building stronger communities and workforces here at home.
