Club 24 Committees
All members of the Rotary Club of Salt Lake City are encouraged to join one or two committees, each of which has a unique goal and purpose. These committees provide our members a way to participate in service either locally or internationally and engage in supporting the work of the club. Engagement
- Programs & Speakers - Under the direction of the Committee Chair, the Club President-Elect, seek to strengthen and broaden the acquaintance and awareness of members with a wide variety of subjects through outstanding speakers and presentations. The Committee attracts programs and presentations that are informative, relevant and timely to our club and community.
- Social - Organize fellowship activities within the Club to promote social relationships between Rotarians and their spouses, families or guests and expose them to the benefits and responsibilities of Rotary affiliation. This can include social, service or mini events focusing on a specific committees' goals or activities.
- Service - The service committee works in partnership with the Programs and Social Committees to identify opportunities for member service and engagement.
- Environmental - Educate members of the Club on environmental issues as well as selects and promotes local environmental enhancements projects in which Club members can participate. Previous projects include maintaining and restoration of Rotary Park in City Creek Canyon, Rotary Glen near Hogle Zoo and the Playground for Children of all Abilities in Liberty Park.
- Homeless and Transitional Housing - The Homeless and Transitional Housing Committee is a reiteration of the successful Milestone Project which has transitioned from fundraising phase to an independent 501C3 managed in partnership with the Department of Housing. The committee now seeks to identify additional ways to assist in meaningful ways to address the issues of homelessness and housing in our community.
Education
- School Partnerships - Rotary of Salt Lake City adopted Franklin Elementary School, a Title 1 school in Salt Lake City School District. Rotary believes our young people are our future, and we cannot afford to relegate any segment of them to lives of dependency and hopelessness, regardless of the socio-economic, racial or ethnic characteristics of their parent(s). Several projects are focused on students at Franklin Elementary including: weekly tutoring, Career Day, Sub-for-Santa and weekly donations of books to the school library.
- Rotaract - Our club sponsors a local University of Utah Rotaract chapter. They provide opportunities for men and women, ages 18-30, to enhance the knowledge and skills that will assist them in personal development, to address the physical and social needs of their communities. Promote better relations between all people worldwide through a framework of friendship and service.
- Interact / Rotary Youth Leadership Awards (RYLA) - Our club sponsors several Interact chapters at Salt Lake City High Schools. We also sponsor several students each year to attend RYLA. They provide opportunities for young men and women, ages 15-18, to enhance the knowledge and skills which will assist them in personal development, to address the physical and social needs of their communities. Promote better relations between all people worldwide through a framework of friendship and service.
- Scholarships - Promote and foster school and community service, academic achievement, and a personal commitment to excellence. High school students receive scholarships to assist them in furthering their post-secondary education goals. Committee members are assigned one or two schools within the Salt Lake City School District. Members work with the assigned schools to select candidates for recognition, including personal interviews.
Project Specific
- Public Image - Enhance Rotary’s image in the Community. They focus on external and internal communications using various outlets including social media.
- Gala - Every two years the Rotary of Salt Lake City hosts a fundraising gala event to support the Salt Lake Rotary Foundation and the work of Rotary of Salt Lake City. Proceeds of the gala support the corpus of the foundation and the annual philanthropic work of the club.
- Acts of Kindness - Provide one-time financial grants to needy local individuals up to $500 for emergencies, utilities, medical expenses, clothing, food, car repairs, etc. as the Committee budget permits during the year.
- International - Fosters International Relations and promotes self-help opportunities in developing countries and usually in partnership with local Rotary Club / District in the country where service is performed.
Membership
- Membership - The Membership Committee implements strategies to support the success, engagement and participation of Rotary of Salt Lake City and its members.
- Welcome - Members are assigned weekly to welcome meeting participants and assist with registration and to visitors & members.
Foundation
- Salt Lake City Rotary Foundation (Trustees) - This Foundation provides the primary source of funding for our Club’s Service Projects. They receive, administer and expend funds for such charitable, educational, scientific purposes and physical or mental welfare of the children and youth of the City and County of Salt Lake, State of Utah and elsewhere as per foundation bylaws.

- Description: Promotes The Rotary Foundation (TRF) and its programs such as scholarships, grants, Group Study Exchange, and cultural exchanges among our members and eligible individuals. Encourages support of TRF through Paul Harris Fellowships, Sustaining Memberships, Benefactors, etc.
